Patrick Baudouin "Le Fresnaye" Anjou Rouge 2017

Patrick Badouin has been described as passionate, philosophical and even poetic about terroir. He is immeasurably passionate about Anjou: its history, its terroir and its AOC stipulations since he took over his great-grandparents estate in the 1990’s after a decade of working in factories and selling books. The estate was in disrepair with only a single hectare of Chenin remaining. In the past thirty years, he has grown the estate to 13.5 hectares both in Anjou and Coteaux de Layon, as well as restored the vineyards and cellar. 

Vinification in vats with natural yeast, adding so2 only at the first racking. Malolactic fermentation and further aging in Burgundy barrels.
