LOOP LINE TASTING NOTES | A very special wine from one of the forerunners of Chenin in Anjou. This wine is structural with a honeyed fruit palate finishing with astonishing minerality. Truly an extraordinary wine, Badouin skillfully captured brilliance in a bottle.

Patrick Badouin has been described as passionate, philosophical and even poetic about terroir. He is immeasurably passionate about Anjou: its history, its terroir and its AOC stipulations since he took over his great-grandparents estate in the 1990’s after a decade of working in factories and selling books. The estate was in disrepair with only a single hectare of Chenin remaining. In the past thirty years, he has grown the estate to 13.5 hectares both in Anjou and Coteaux de Layon, as well as restored the vineyards and cellar. His overarching goal is to make resplendent Chenin Blanc with ancient techniques.

Vinification without sulphur until the first racking. Slow fermentation and aging in Burgundy barrels of 400L and 228L (new and used) on fine lees.
