LOOP LINE TASTING NOTES |This wine is named for the year winegrowers of the region decided to found an association based on the guiding doctrine that “wine should only be grapes.” True to Patrick Badouin’s philosophy, this sweet wine is made without added sugar: only grapes painstakingly harvested by hand and treated gently in the cellar. Elegant, round with refreshing minerality and a stimulating spice. An excellent, full-bodied wine that is worthy of long consideration. The finish is long, intense and saline which is balanced by its bright acidity and botrytis flavours.

Patrick Badouin has been described as passionate, philosophical and even poetic about terroir. He is immeasurably passionate about Anjou: its history, its terroir and its AOC stipulations since he took over his great-grandparents estate in the 1990’s after a decade of working in factories and selling books. The estate was in disrepair with only a single hectare of Chenin remaining. In the past thirty years, he has grown the estate to 13.5 hectares both in Anjou and Coteaux de Layon, as well as restored the vineyards and cellar. His overarching goal is to make resplendent Chenin Blanc with ancient techniques.

Fermentation and aging in barrels with natural yeasts. Settled overnight at cellar temperature. Sulphite addition at the first racking, and again at bottling.
